The Illinois Energy Consortium is a nonprofit, joint energy-purchasing
pool sponsored by the Illinois Association of School Boards, Illinois Association
of School Administrators and Illinois Association of School Business Officials.

- How is the new program with NextEra Energy Services
different than the prior program?
Our new program with NextEra Energy Serives offers more choices
and more flexibility. Members can select a one, two or three-year product term and
change products throughout the term of their Member Participation Agreement. Additionally,
there is both a fixed-energy price and an IEC-managed product option to give members
more choices to align with their specific district needs.
- Why would I choose the IEC program, assuming pricing
from another company is equal?
You are in good company. With over 450 Illinois public school
districts and colleges as members, your board can feel comfortable that your energy
purchasing strategies are on par with the other 450-plus members in the state.
- Will the IEC respond to an RFP?
Yes. If you are obligated to issue a RFP, the IEC will respond

that the Illinois courts have ruled that public school districts are exempt
from competitive bidding under the Illinois School Code 105 ILCS 5/1-1
et seq (case No. 1-07-2041).
- I’m a current member. Why do I need to extend the term of my
current Member Participation Agreement?
To align your MPA with the term of our new program with NextEra
Energy Services, which begins June 1, 2014. Enrollment in the program is going on
- Why is the MPA extended for 3 years?
To offer highly-competitive pricing, a longer-term commitment
is requested. However, within the term of the MPA, a member can elect a shorter
product term and change products as often as once a year.
- When does the new program start?
The program with NextEra Energy begins June 1, 2014.
- What are the terms of the electricity program?

- What if I’m under contract with another supplier?
We encourage you to reach out to your current supplier and determine
when your existing contract expires. If it is before June 1, 2014, NextEra Energy
Services can provide an interim price for the period prior to the June start date.
If it is after June 1, 2014, NextEra Energy Services can enroll you following the
expiration of your existing agreement.
- Once I join, who can I go to for questions regarding
my specific account?
A dedicated Account Manager will be responsible for managing your
accounts and addressing questions or concerns you may have.

- What is the Early Pay Discount?
NextEra Energy Services is offering a special benefit for members
who pay in advance of their 60 day payment terms. If you pay 5 of 6 invoices within 15 days
you will receive a $0.15/mWh discount or a $0.10/mWh discount for payment within 30 days.
Credits will be awarded twice annually in January and July.
